We are pleased to share the following camp information for those who are interested in bike summer camps. We admire Our Community Bikes'camp initiative and believe their programs provide a truly unique and memorable summer experience for kids.
Our Community Bike Club Summer Camps!
Our Community Bike Club educates youth how to ride their bikes safely and confidently while exploring our surrounding community. Our Community Bike Club has been running in Vancouver Public Schools for 4 years as an after-school program. We are excited to be now offering summer camps!
Our Community Bike Club's summer camps are the only bike camps in the Lower Mainland with Nationally Certified Instructors (CANBIKE2).
No bike? No problem! There will be loaner bikes available for kids who need them.
Program Basics:
Our camps consist of week-long day camps for kids ages 8 to 13. Camps run from 9:00am - 2:30pm daily. The day-to-day activities will include:
- Bike Safety – participants will learn to confidently ride on city streets, understand different traffic scenarios, and stay safe on their bikes
- Bike Rides – exploring different interesting and fun community locations each day while learning to navigate their neighbourhoods
- Basic Bike Maintenance Workshops – understand how your bike works, and how to keep it in good working order and make quick fixes when needed.
Locations, Dates and Costs:
Grandview/¿uuqinak’uuh Elementary (2055 Woodland Dr. Vancouver):
August 2 to 5* or August 8 to 12
* August 2 to 5 Camp is four-days only, due to August 1 Holiday
Hastings Elementary (2625 Franklin St. Vancouver):
August 8-12 or August 15-19
Costs: Program fees are based on a pay-what-you-can system, and have an established suggested cost and minimum rate. Contact us for more information.
