What is the Fireside ESL Adventures Program all about?
The Fireside ESL Adventures (FESLA) program is designed to provide
international youth an opportunity to engage in an experiential English
language adventure program. While visiting some of British Columbia’s
most beautiful outdoor, rural and urban locations, youth will work
closely with English instructors to improve their English.
Instead
of learning in a traditional stationary classroom setting, FESLA youth travel and reside at a number of alternative learning settings such an ecological centre, ski resort, youth hostel, and
outdoor camping over a 21-day period.
Participants explore throughout British
Columbia, immersing themselves in Canadian culture, being taught
outdoor leadership skills and improving their English speaking
abilities.
We continue to provide an excellent setting for
international youth to learn and improve their English, explore their
leadership potential and enjoy some Canada’s natural wonders. By
ensuring a maximum size of 14 campers, youth will have more one-to-one
time with instructors and fellow youth campers.
We hire
qualified staff to lead, teach and guide the entire 21-day program.
Our staff are dedicated to providing the best experience they can
possibly offer. Fireside staff must have a valid driver’s license,
wilderness first aid and/or First Responder training, life guarding,
outdoor wilderness training, criminal record check, post secondary
education, and English-teaching ability.
